A View from the Bridge

"Betrayal is the only truth that sticks."- Arthur Miller A View from the Bridge is a play written by Arthur Miller that takes place in the 1950s. A family of three takes in extended family from the wife and trouble soon arises. The husband and man of the house, Eddie, is married to Beatrice and is a father figure to Catherine, Beatrice's niece. After Eddie reluctantly agrees to Catherine taking a job, Beatrice's cousins, Marco and Rodolpho arrive from Italy. They came illegally on a ship and Eddie is not too excited about having them stay at their house for too long. Marco has a wife and kids back in Italy and he only came here to work to provide better for them, meanwhile Rodolpho is single and quickly shows interest in Catherine. Eddie shows deeper feelings for Catherine than that of a daughter and tells Catherine that Rodolpho is gay in the hopes that she will turn him down. Catherine is outraged by this and Eddie feels cornered since no one believes him so. Tens
